More details have been released regarding what passengers should expect when boarding the new “Margaritaville Paradise,” a newly-refurbished vessel which is scheduled to set sail from Palm Beach to the Bahama Islands on April 30, 2022.
The ship was created as a rebranding by Jimmy Buffet’s lifestyle company, Margaritaville Enterprises, of the Bahama Paradise Cruise Line. To create Margaritaville Paradise, they refurbished and refitted the vessel, Grand Classica. Margaritaville’s partnership with Bahama Paradise is more of a collaboration and not ownership. Instead, the company views this opportunity as a rebranding and refitting for the already existing company.
Buffet’s company, Margaritaville Enterprises, already owns a number of hotels and resorts, gaming locations, RV resorts, vacation clubs, and restaurants, as well as real estate communities. This venture marks the first time the company has created a passenger cruise experience. The goal was to create a “Margaritaville at Sea” when passengers board the Margaritaville Paradise and to attract an entirely new audience of travelers.
The vessel will feature gourmet food and beverage options that are styled after the company’s own land-based properties, including a JWB Prime Steak & Seafood, Frank and Lola’s Pizzeria, LandShark Sports Bar, Margaritaville Coffee & Pastry Shop, and a Port of Indecision Buffet. The ship will also feature more adult-focused entertainment, including a Euphoria Lounge, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar, and Sunset Bar. Adult passengers will also be able to enjoy gaming opportunities at the ship’s Par-A-Dice Casino.
Other amenities include a Stars on the Water Theater, a St. Somewhere Spa, several Margaritaville-themed pools, and a Fins Up! Fitness Center.
The company believes that this cruise experience will provide their guests with an authentic Margaritaville experience at sea, including food and entertainment focused on that tropical theme as they sail to the Bahama Islands.
The company has announced that they will wait until closer to the first departure date to determine what public health precautions they will be taking with respect to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. Currently, the Bahamas Paradise Cruise line requires all passengers 12 and older to provide proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of departure. Any unvaccinated passengers younger than 12 will need to present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure.
